We mapped out every possible visa route for 12 different European countries. Turns out there are way more options than we thought, but also way more complexity...
We're tracking every single cost - from visa fees to moving expenses to cost of living comparisons. Some surprises: it's cheaper than we thought in some places, way more expensive in others.
Turns out finding an apartment as foreigners is... complicated. We're documenting all the rental websites, requirements, and tricks we're learning from people who've done it.
After months of research, we've narrowed it down to Netherlands, Portugal, and Germany. Each has different pros/cons and visa paths.
Started Dutch and Portuguese lessons on Duolingo. Mike is way better at Dutch, I'm picking up Portuguese faster.
Realized we need to think about taxes way earlier than we thought. US citizens still file US taxes living abroad!
